It claims to slice, grate, peel, shave, shred, garnish, julienne slice & comes with a mandoline slicer. You can peel in any direction and claims to cut prep time in half! I’ve seen this on television and wondered if it was worth all the hype. I figured I had nothing to lose with the Lifetime Warranty & Money-Back Guarantee so I purchased one for $14.99
The Titan package says: “This amazing tool shaves away the outer layers of fruits and vegetables with speed and ease. The ultra sharp blade is constructed of 100% stainless steel guaranteed to last a lifetime. Each blade has a dual action motion to help cut peeling time in half. Shave vegetables, peel potatoes and slice both hard and soft cheese perfectly every time.” I'll put that to the test.
Out of the packaging, it appears to be well constructed and the handle is comfortable to hold. The peeler has a semi-serrated edging and is somewhat narrower than a standard old-fashioned peeler. I like the fact that it is stainless steel, which won't rust, and is dishwasher safe.
The shredder tool has a row of teeth that are supposed to julienne your vegetables quickly and easily. I have to admit I don't julienne or mandoline slice very often because it's very time consuming.
I tried it on a carrot, potato, cucumber and an apple. It took a bit to get used to at first because it peels in both directions and I'm used to peeling away from me. I have to say the sharp blades did glide quite easily and peeling went quickly.
On to the Titan Shredder tool. This also has a very sharp blade and quickly and easily glides across the cucumber and produces long threads of julienned cucumbers. In 2-3 swipes across the cucumber, I got this beautiful little pile of shreds. The carrot was just as easy. A few quick swipes across and voila! It’s really quite amazing & I'm now looking for salads and dishes to use the julienne slicer.
On to trying the slicing claim. I used the potato to slice up for maybe potato chips. This was not as easy and the slices are pretty uneven and definitely not uniform. Because the peeler blade is not very wide, it won’t slice across a wide potato so you have to move it around to find a narrow area. I wasn’t impressed with slicing. I don’t know if I would ever try to slice with this tool. It was awkward and the results were not what I hoped. I would use a mandolin slicer instead to get more uniformity and faster results.

My Conclusion - I have been using the Titan in my daily life since I purchased and tested it. This gadget didn’t just get shoved in a drawer. The Titan is actually a pretty great vegetable peeler & the best apple peeler I've ever used. The Titan peeler is SHARP, much sharper than a basic peeler. The Titan Peeler and Shredder tools are well built, sharp, easy to use, and effective for peeling and shredding. I don’t recommend using the peeler for slicing. It’s awkward and the results aren’t that great. I recommend using the mandoline slicer that comes with it. For $14.99, it's fairly inexpensive & I definitely recommend this As Seen On TV product.
